Majorca or Mallorca,
whichever way you prefer to spell it, are pronounced more or less
the same. It is the largest of the Balearic islands and, together
with its sisters, Menorca and Ibiza, lies in the Mediterranean sea,
off the south east coast of mainland Spain. Flying time to most U K
airports does not exceed two and a half hours.
The time difference
is a constant one hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time.
The municipal district and holiday resort of Puerto Pollensa lies
on the north west coast of the island, approximately 58km, and
a 1.1/2 hour drive from the capital Palma and
the Son
Sant Joan International airport.
Located near to
Puerto Pollensa is Formentor, one of the loveliest and most visited
beauty spots on our island, attracting artists, intellectuals and
statesmen alike.
The hair raising,
breath taking road from Formentor to the lighthouse, (El Far) passes
by the incomparable coves of Cala Figuera, Cala Murta and Cala En
Gossalba.
